memorial day recap

We decided to take a last minute trip down to Vegas to spend Memorial Day Weekend with our families. Our weekend was filled with yummy food, shopping (we bought cribs for dip and dot... they say, "thanks grandma!!"), swimming, ice cream, and the lake.

Chandler stole grandpa's ice cream and wouldn't give it back. At first she just dug into it with her little spoon (the sample spoon ha ha... just her size!) and then she proceeded to grab his whole cup of ice cream and went to town eating it as fast as she could. One thing I've learned about this girl is don't  mess with her ice cream. The girl gets mad... and I mean MAD when you take her ice cream away.

We took Chandler swimming for the first time (okay, not the first... but the first time she would actually get in the water) and she loved it! She made me nervous the whole time cause she thinks she can just dunk her head under and walk off the steps no big deal... I was dying... but she was having so much fun so it was okay. We even let her go down the slide a few times... see the video on my instagram @ashleyhunt5

On Memorial Day we went out to Lake Mead for a few hours... Chan wasn't too sure about the sand or the water... She didn't like the sand on her feet or her hands. She kept wanting me to wipe it off for her... and the water was still a little cold so she didn't love that either. She did like the boat rides however... one of them actually putting her to sleep!
We had a lot of fun just hanging out and watching everyone tube and wakeboard... It was a super nice day to be at the lake... it was hot, but not 115 degrees hot so it actually felt good to be out in the sun and on the boat.

Whitney, Michelle, and I.

                                      the whole crew.

My cute family. (and my whale self... ew. Are these babies growing only in my stomach... or in my legs, boobs, face, etc?!? The joys of pregnancy...)

my bragging moment

No, not about myself... geez. This post is all about this guy right here.

Dating - Feb. 2011

I just feel like I need to take a minute and thank Austin for all he's done for me, for Chandler, for our sweet baby girls to come, and for our family.

Engagements - May 2011

Since we've been married he's juggled school full time, college baseball, a job (sometimes two), a crazy prego wife (twice now), an energetic and independent toddler, and now 2 more little babes on the way.

Disneyland - October 2011

He's put up with moving us all around our little town, sleepless nights, late night study dates with the library, many fast food dinners (more then I'd like to admit), dealing with a sick wife or sick baby, plenty of trips back home to Vegas, and gym sacrifices...

March 2012

Through this pregnancy I've had everything from the H1N1 flu (yea... I don't recommend it) to the stomach flu... along with morning sickness, colds, and endless heatburn (que tums) and he's been right there through it all to feed Chandler, give her a bath, put her to bed, get up with her at night, pick up the house, make dinner (or pick up dinner) and still make time for himself.

Christmas day - December 2012

He's managed to power through a Bachelor's and a Master's degree, land a great job at a national accounting firm back in Las Vegas, and somehow still keeps up with his church callings, church basketball, gym sessions, golfing, and movie man dates (sorry, I had to mention it).

Spring Break - March 2013

Pretty much what I'm getting at here is that this guy is awesome and I really don't thank him enough for all he does for us. He really is such a blessing to me and the best daddy to Chan and our sweet girls...

Europe - July 2013

I pretty much hit the jackpot here when I snagged this guy... He's great and fun and loving and I'm so grateful to have him forever and ever.

Thanksgiving - November 2013

baby faves - twin style

You guys... Shopping for twin stuff is soo so much different then shopping for one baby. Oh, you all knew that? Yea, I'm a little late... But as I've been shopping around, asking for advice, and looking at my bank account (that's dying at me even looking at this stuff) I thought I'd share a few of my favorite finds so far...

This stroller... I seriously chased a lady down at the mall about a month ago cause she had this stroller. I was looking all over the place for a stroller that I could just click the car seats into... kind of like a travel system type thing, but was having zero luck. And on top of that, the double strollers I was looking at were, um, $1,500!!! Are you kidding?!? I will muscle those 2 car seats everywhere I go if I have to pay that much for a dang stroller. But when I saw this one, I knew I had to have it. And the best part? It can change into ALL of those different seating arrangements... you just but the different attachments and voila! 2 car seats? 1 car seat, 1 regular seat? Bassinet and regular seat? No biggie... Britax has got you covered. And, another bonus for me? Chandler's travel system is Britax which will work perfectly with the attachments for this stroller... meaning I only have to buy one car seat instead of two! Yay for me!

Okay, so yes, I'm giving this whole breastfeeding thing another try. My experience with Chan was terrible... and no, I'll spare you the details... But I neeeed this thing. I chose the least graphic picture for you all... but basically picture me sitting in the middle with my little dip and dot on either side laying on the pillow, eating happily. I'm praying for eating happily anyway. And where that water bottle is, picture a large diet coke... just kiddinggggg.

I'm dying over this bedding. DYING. I'm also dying at the price but that's besides the point right now. I'm going for a black, white and gold theme for this nursery... which is so unlike Chandler's... Hers is bright pink, plum purple, and rose gold. Maybe I'll post pictures of hers soon... but anyway... I'm trying to convince my bank account (and my husband) that our sweet girls are in desperate need of this bedding. Or maybe that pillow... or anything that looks similar to this. Ugh, I'm dying...

That's all I have time for today... but I'm sure I'll be posting more of what I find (and need. you know, everything is need) in my upcoming post. Here's to 21 weeks!

my chan chan

all images are from bcouturephotography

My sweetest Chandler Kate
16 months

-Chandler is 35 inches tall... Yes, almost 3 feet. WHAT?!? She's super duper tall for her age. I've gotten asked (more than once) if she is 3 years old. But no... she's 16 months :)
-She's got the cutest little curly que hair. And sadly, it's not from me. I love love love curly hair... and mine is stick straight. But hers is beautiful.... like that perfect, air dried, not frizzy at all, kind of curl. Ugh, I'm so jealous.

-She's got 12 teeth. 4 on bottom, 4 on top, and 4 molars. And she loves brushing her teeth... or sucking the teensy amount on toothpaste off the toothbrush. But she brushes them, and that's all I care about.
-Her favorite foods include mac n cheese, tomatoes, yogurt (any kind), grilled cheese, scrambled eggs, ice cream, hot dogs, blueberries, and spaghetti-o's.
-She loves any kind of drinks except water. The girl will not drink it. I have to put some sort of juice in it so she will drink water... So I usually mix 3/4 water to 1/4 juice and that seems to work well. She loves apple juice and grape juice, chocolate milk (I use ovaltine and she can't tell the difference) and she would drink all my diet coke if I would let her.

-Chandler's word list includes: mama, dada, dogume (although, she says "dog" now), cat, gampa or papa, gamma or nana, pop, shuz (shoes), and juice (on a good day).
-She tries to put on her own shoes, wipe her own butt (yes she does), put on her own headbands (which usually ends up with her snapping herself in the face with them) and she's pretty good with a fork. A spoon, however, is going to take some work... but she's getting there :)
-Bath time is her favorite. She knows the word "bath" and she strips down and runs butt naked for the bathroom. She plays with her bath toys and her cup, and she drinks her bath water (yuck) and says, "ahhh" each time she does.

-She loves buckets, cups, boxes, and bowls. Anything she can fill up with stuff. She'll spend 20 minutes putting her blanket in a bucket and then taking it out... over and over and over again.
-She wears 12-18 and 18-24 month clothes. We have a hard time with this because she is so dang tall but skinny. She needs 18-24 month dresses and shirts but the pants are huge on her. However, the 12-18 month pants are too short. She wears baby size 5 shoes.
-She loves my phone and the TV remote. She can successfully talk to Siri (all Siri says to her is, "I'm sorry, I didn't get that." But her little face lights up when my phone suddenly talks back to her) and she can turn on the TV and navigate through the channels.

-She can point to her nose, toes, and eyes. Every once in a while I can get her to find her belly button but not very often. We're working on it.
-She now puts herself to sleep in her crib. We give her a bottle at night and then put her in her crib and she lays there until she falls asleep. She sleeps 11-12 hours a night.
-Chandler loves animals. Big, small, it doesn't matter. She gets super excited around them and she claps or pats her legs to try to get them to come to her. Also, every animal she sees is a "dog" or "dogume" sometimes a "cat"... and ALL animals say "quack, quack, quack!" We're working on that too.

We love love love this girl. She is so sassy and full of spunk. She's constantly busy and on the go, but we wouldn't have it any other way! We love you Chan Chan :)

18 weeks

18 weeks :)
Technically, I'm halfway according to twin pregnancy time frame. Yay!

So here they are... Baby A and Baby B still kicking strong in there... and making themselves known. I did get asked for the first time the other day if I was having a boy or a girl... um, excuse me, are you sure I'm even pregnant?!? I was really tempted to look back at her and say, "What do you mean?" But I couldn't... So when I said, "Actually, I'm having twin girls..." I might as well said, "I'm growing a whole herd of cows in my stomach... have you ever heard of that?" Because that girl looked at me like I was outta my mind. So then I proceeded to tell her that I have a 16 month old girl (you know, words just keep coming out of my mouth at this point). I'm pretty sure she was about to pass out. She muttered a quiet "congrats" and on my way I went! I never knew that people could be so hilarious (and so bold) to pregnant women... But I get a kick out of people's comments.
