37 weeks... what?!?

You guys... I made it to 37 weeks with these babe's in my belly... can you even believe it?! I know I hardly can... I've been going to my dr weekly, and also over to Labor & Delivery for weekly non-stress tests to monitor each babies heart rates and movements... and each time I go, I think to myself, "Okay, this is my last one, nope, this is my last one" and I. Keep. Going. Back. Baby girls are just comfy in there I guess.

Probably one of the worst pictures taken of me... but, this is my outfit as of lately. I only get dressed if I have to go somewhere. Otherwise, it's sweats, leggings, sweatshirts, Austin's shirts... eh, whatev. Oh, and hair and makeup? Let's just forget about those...

As of a month ago, both babies are around 5lbs each. Uhh... you mean I had 10lbs of just baby in my belly? Holy... and it's been a month since that measurement so... take a guess at how much is in there now. Yikes.

Both girls are head down. STAY THAT WAY. I'm hoping for the best scenario here... no slicing my tummy open, okay? Be nice to mommy.

As of my last appt, I'm dilated to a 4 1/2... TMI I know... and when I was having my non-stress test, I was apparently having pretty regular contractions... But could I feel them? No. Shooooot. No pain no gain... Come on babies!!

I still don't have my hospital bags packed. Hello?!? Well, I guess I have little piles of things here and there... a little bit of my stuff, a little bit of babies' stuff, Austin's stuff... Chan's stuff. But nothing in bags. What am I waiting for? Yea, I don't know either.

BUT... I'm all scheduled to be induced on Tuesday, September 16, 2014. Yep, baby girls have a tentative birthday... unless they decide to try to sneak out earlier. I'll be almost 38 weeks at that point. I have been whining and whining to get these babies out of my belly... and now that I have an actual date (and it's only days away...) I'm kind of freaking out and feeling really unprepared. I know through my updates (and my dr would probably tell you the same) that I sound super miserable... but in all honesty, it hasn't been that bad. Yes, I miss sleeping how I want. Yes, I'd like to be able to tie my own shoes. Yes, I'd like to see a lower (much lower) number on the scale... But these girls have been pretty good to me. I'm so super excited to finally meet them and hold them and feed them and snuggle them... But part of me is terrified. What if I can't handle 2 at once? I'm scared of failing... and these girls are going to be 100% dependent on me. I've got a lot to live up to... not only for them, but also for Chandler. I'm so scared of Chandler not feeling important anymore... I know that I'm meant to do this, otherwise I wouldn't be in this position, but I just hope that I can give all 3 of my girls everything they need.

So there ya have it... my LAST pregnancy update! Next time you all hear from me, we'll be a family of 5! Yikes!

prego funnies

For those of us who have been pregnant before, we know that people love to spill their baby facts or give unwanted advice... or basically say something stupid and unnecessary. When I was pregnant with Chandler, I had no idea that people would say the things they say... I would think to myself later, "did that really just come out of your mouth??" I was always super nice about everything and just kinda laugh and shake it off. And now that I know how this whole process works, mamma bear tends to come out sometimes... I've been thinking of some of the crazy comments I've heard over the course of this pregnancy so I thought I'd share some:

  • After awkwardly staring at me *wondering* if I'm pregnant, they finally hear a comment about my pregnant belly and then decide to pipe in and say, "Oh, I thought you were expecting, but I didn't dare say anything... but you do look pregnant." Uh, thanks... I guess.
  • Once I was at the mall by myself with Chandler, a lady standing next to me leans over and says, "Oh, you're going to have your hands full... did you really want to have another one so close to this one?" I'm feeling a little snappy so I make her day by replying, "Oh yea, and actually, I'm having twins!" She didn't say one more word to me. Hah.
  • One of my favorites: "Are they natural?" Yes, but to me, who cares? Whether they were a total surprise, or you got a little help, they're still humans, right? When people as me that, it's like I'm growing a couple aliens in my belly... and furthermore, why do you, a total stranger, care how I got pregnant??
  • A lady at church: "Wow, how did that happen??" Well, lets backtrack to the birds and the bees talk, shall we? I mean, seriously??
  • Another one of my faves: When people think they are positive about the gender of your baby. "Oh, you're having a boy!" Actually, 2 girls... but good guess. "You've got rosy cheeks, you must be having a boy." That's called blush, and no, I'm having 2 girls.
  • The person ringing me up at Babies R Us while I'm buying every girl thing you could think of: "You must be having a girl!" Yes, yes I am... and 2! "Oh, I'm so sorry..." Excuse me, for what??
  • Shopping for post-pregnancy clothes, the college girl working at the store says, "Do you know if you're having a boy or a girl?" I tell her I'm actually having twin girls... Her reply: "Oh yea, I was gonna say, you're huge!" Then she thinks for a second and says, "Well, you look really good for having twins, but your belly is HUGE!" Uh... you're digging yourself in a deeper hole, but thanks... I guess?
That's all I can remember for now... People are so funny...

Here is Baby A and Baby B at 34 weeks:

Up next... my LAST pregnancy update!!!

a prego mom and a cute chan chan

You guys, time is flying by... I could be meeting these baby girls in just a few weeks! Yikes! Things are starting to get real... not that they weren't real before, but now that I'm literally down to a few weeks, I'm kinda freaking myself out.

I have a cold right now. Shoot. Me. As if being super duper uncomfortable all the time isn't enough, lets just throw in my nose running everywhere, I can't breathe, my eyes watering, my throat killing me... anything else? Oh yea, I can't take any medicine. Hashtag sucks to be me right now.

I don't sleep. Seriously. I think I maybe sleep an hour at a time through the night. I get up to use the bathroom at least 4 times a night. I'm up to sleeping with 4 pillows. Yes, 4. I can only sleep on my right side... occasionally I can switch to my left, but usually it's only for a few minutes and then I'm back to my right side. I'm normally a back sleeper so this whole side sleeping thing is killing me!

I've also been having the weirdest dreams... if you want to call them dreams. I'm still in the process of getting the twins' bedding... holy expensive. and x2. Anyway, I contemplated having someone make the bedding for me... I thought maybe it would be cheaper. Well, I forgot to tell her that I wanted matching blankets as well. Don't worry, I was up all night thinking about the fact that my babies wouldn't have matching blankets for their nursery. Ha. Pathetic I know. I've also been reading Baby Wise... and in the book he talks about newborns needing to eat every 2 1/2-3 hours at first. In my most recent dream, I had these babies and went straight home from the hospital with them... and then...

I didn't feed them for 2 whole days!

I just let them sleep! WHAT?!? Don't get scared, I would NEVER do that... but in my dream, I just wanted to let them sleep and I didn't want to bother them. So I was up throughout the night stressing about feeding my newborns! Who knows what kind of craziness will go on in my dreams to come in the next few weeks.

Alright, enough about my non-sleeping habits... On to this little beauty:

Little miss Chandler Kate is so fun these days. Well, she's always been fun, but she's learning things so fast and it's so fun just to sit back and watch her.

Chandler has added so many new words and phrases to her vocabulary. Her newest:

-"there it is!" I'm pretty sure she picked this up from me... I would always ask her to find stuff and when she did, I would say to her, "there it is!" So now when she finds something on her own, that's what she says.
-"byeee" with attitude and everything. She whips out her binky and will tell you "byeee" out of nowhere. Sometimes when she's not even leaving.
-She can now point to a dog and say "ruff" but if you ask her "what does a dog say?" her response: "cat." We're working on it.
-Whenever she falls or slips or anything like that, she says, "whoa!" in a little valley girl voice.
-She points to my belly and says, "baby!" and then points to my boobs and asks, "baby??" oh geez...
-She calls her sippy cups "cuppssssss"
-Any drink or body of water she sees is "aagggmmmmm" yea, I don't know either.
-She knows where our cat's food is... she calls it "foof" and only the cat eats "foof". I've asked her "Do mommy and daddy eat food?" Her response: "no." Well, okay then.
-When she wants more of something, she sounds like the birds from Finding Nemo when they say, "mine, mine, mine." Only Chandler says, "mo, mo, mo." More, more more.
-She says "puppy" now. And it's the cutest thing ever. And "hippo". I die.
-Speaking of the word "die"... We were driving to the store the other day and Austin got a phone call... and instead of turning down the radio to hear, he tried to turn off the a/c. Uh, not happening. So after he got off the phone, I said, "You can't turn off the a/c! We'll all die in here!" Chandler from the back seat yells out "DIE!!!" and then laughed to herself.
-In the same car ride, we happened to be driving to Hobby Lobby. We parked and Austin turned back to Chandler and said, "Come on Chan, we have to go to Hobby Lobby" (Hobby Lobby in his "stupid, I don't want to go there" voice.) And Chandler takes out her binky and says, "Hobby Yobby." Equally as funny as her "DIE!" comment about 30 seconds before.
-She now likes to feed herself "apposaa." Applesauce. Duh. Oh and "chs" Mac n Cheese.
-We see a lot of deer around here... and anything even close to a deer (horse, moose, zebra...) is "vvvvv". Yea, we're not sure how that fits either.

Alright, enough of her funny little words.
-She can successfully point to her nose, eyes, ears, teeth, tongue, hair, neck, elbows, fingers, knees, belly button, feet, and toes.
-She'll show you her muscles if you ask her, she knows what her shirt and pants are. And she loves to get her shoes and put them on herself. And then take them off. Repeat.
-Fruit snacks have become one of her favorite foods. I don't even think she chews them. "mo, mo, mo." And they're gone in 15 seconds.
-She also likes chips. But she has to get them out of the bag herself.
-She will now let me put her hair in a ponytail. She looks like Cindy Lou Who, but it's still so cute.
-She wears mostly 18-24 month clothes, except 2T in dresses. Size 5 1/2 shoes. Size 3 diapers but I think she's on to size 4 soon.

I'm starting to freak out a little thinking that Chandler isn't going to be my only baby anymore. I get really sad thinking about not being able to give her all the attention and how I'll love my other babies as much as I love her. And I know I will, and everything will work out just fine. But I keep thinking about her not knowing what's going on when all of a sudden we bring 2 babies home with us that aren't leaving. I know that she will be a great big sister and that she will love them (eventually) I just worry about her feeling left out or feeling like she's not as important anymore.

Here's to 34 weeks... We can do this.

Twin Baby Shower

Get ready for a picture overload. My cute mom threw me and the twins the cutest baby shower a few weekends ago. The girls' room is black, white, and gold so she decided to go with that theme... along with some pink, because duh, 2 girls!

She did a breakfast theme... mini donuts, muffins, bagels, yogurt parfaits, fruit... juice and milk too of course!

She definitely went over the top with the decor but it turned out super cute!

For the favors we got all different shades of pink nail polish and paired with a little bottle of cuticle oil.

And dumb me only got a few pictures with the people who came:

Liz and I... she actually had her baby boy 4 days later!

Ashley and I.

And of course, my Chan Chan.

2 more baby girls... Bring. It. On.

3 years

August 6, 2011

Austin and I celebrated 3 years last weekend. Since I knew I was going to be 32 weeks along at the time of our actual anniversary and I wasn't sure I'd be able to travel, we celebrated a few weeks early. We planned a little weekend getaway to Salt Lake City, and also planned a vaca for Chandler to Las Vegas. We started out our weekend with dinner at The Roof Restaurant. Austin had been there before but it was my first time being there. We got a table right across from the temple and officially stuffed ourselves! It was nice to be able to actually eat our meals together without having to cut up food for Chan or keep her from wrecking the place while the other one eats.

And... these are the only pictures I got from the whole weekend ha ha. I guess we were having too much fun to document anything. The next day we went to see Wicked. I've been DYING to see this play for like 10 years... not kidding. We missed it last time it was in Las Vegas so when I saw a commercial on TV that Wicked was in Salt Lake City, I jumped all over it. Luckily, Austin actually likes musicals so he agreed that we could spend our anniversary seeing Wicked... and it did not disappoint. Besides the fact that the little usher that showed us to our seats took one look at me and said, "Please don't have your baby in our theatre", it was really fun. And don't worry sir... I won't have my babies in your theatre. I'm still 2 months away from that.

We walked around the Gateway Mall after that and ended the night with dinner at The Cheesecake Factory. We ate too much food and then proceeded to order cheesecake to go. My pregnant self enjoyed it. The scale did not. Yolo.

The next morning it was back to reality. We drove back to Cedar and I dropped Austin off so he could get back to work and studying... and I drove down to Vegas to pick up Chan.

Here's to 3 years! So excited to see what's to come for us and our (rapidly) growing family!

maternity pictures pt. 2

30 Weeks!
Oh my goodness.. this is getting crazy! Less then two months before we meet this precious little babes. Along with my next few maternity pictures I had taken, I added a little update. And... I'll let you all know that there actually is a part 3 of these pictures, but I won't put them up until these girls arrive. I can't reveal their names yet, guys!! Anyway... here we go... on the down slide now!

BABY IS THE SIZE OF: a large cabbage? I'm going off the scale of 1 baby because I haven't been into the dr to have my monthly growth ultrasound yet... that's next week. So, according to my handy dady pregnancy app, the babes are almost 16 inches long and weigh about 3 lbs each. Is this crazy to anyone else that at the end of this whole thing, I could have like 12-14 lbs of baby stuffed in my belly?!?? Mind. Blown.

MATERNITY CLOTHES: I live in them. And sweats. And to be honest, even some of my maternity stuff doesn't look so maternity on me anymore. It looks kinda... well, small. Like Homer Simpson status... pretty much, my maternity shirts don't cover my full belly so it sneaks out the bottom of my shirt. Yay.

SLEEP: Oh this one is a joy. I pretty much take little cat naps throughout the night. I toss and turn from side to side carrying all my pillows with me. And then I have to pee. Or take a tums. Or online shop. (I didn't just admit that). Or just lay there and stare at the ceiling. And then maybe, I'll fall asleep. And all of this results in me falling asleep on the couch in the middle of the day... and waking up with sweet Chan Chan in my face just staring at me and saying, "Mama??"

MOVEMENT: Oh yea... I'm a human punching bag. These little girls are strong and have no mercy on me sometimes. My ribs take at least one beating a day... But I'd rather have it that way then sit here and wonder when they're going to move next.

BEST MOMENT OF THE WEEK: Getting their going home outfits. You guys, I honestly never even thought about it until this week. This is all so much different then when I was pregnant with Chandler. This time, I'm procrastinating like a mad woman. But I'm getting there.

MISS ANYTHING: I miss a lot of stuff... pregnancy isn't really my "thing"... But I don't want to dwell on things I miss... I've decided really to enjoy these last few weeks (ah!) with these little babes swimming around in my tummy :)

FOOD CRAVINGS: I still really want PF Changs all. the. time. Just some lo mein noodles and mongolian beef, pretty please?!?!?

ANYTHING MAKE YOU QUEASY: All my pills. My prenatals are the worst now. I take the stupid gummy ones cause they don't taste that bad. Well, I used to think that... now I can barely chew them without gagging.

WEIGHT GAIN: I'm going to guess somewhere between 30-35 lbs. Bring. It. On.

STRETCH MARKS: No! I did, however, manage to hit my belly with my curling iron the other day though... and then had a little freak out when I actually realized what I had done. It seriously looked like a big, red stretch mark right in the middle of my belly... But then I remembered that I burned myself... so, I won't be curling my hair in my sports bra anymore.

HAPPY OR MOODY: Ha ha. This one is funny. Both. Probably more on the moody side lately. Sorry, Austin.

SYMPTOMS: Heartburn (yes, this has been my WORST enemy this time around... it seriously will not go away.) and back pain... I'm pretty sure I carry more in my back.

LOOKING FORWARD TO: Meeting these girls. I can't help but realize how close we really are to having 2 new babies in the house. SO exciting!

maternity pictures pt. 1

I recently had some maternity pictures taken with Adore You Photography. We had them taken up in Brian Head, since that's where we are living right now and that's where we will bring the girls home. I'm not a huge lover of being pregnant so when I was pregnant with Chandler, I was super hesitant about getting any sort of maternity pictures done... and I'm so glad I got them done with her. There is a picture of me when I was pregnant with her up in her room and every time she see's it now she says, "Mama!" and then points to my belly and says, "baby!!" I know that she will like to see what I looked like when I had her in my belly.

So since I had maternity pictures done for Chandler, I had to get them done for the twins as well. I really wish I loved being pregnant... don't get me wrong, I love the concept of being pregnant and that my body is able to carry a baby and that our bodies are even able to do something like creating another human being... The whole process is amazing. I just personally don't love being pregnant. However, I am so grateful that I'm able to grow these 2 little babies in my belly, and for that reason, I feel like I needed to document it.

When I asked Maddy with Adore You Photography to do these pictures for me, I was so excited that she not only agreed to do them for me, but also agreed to drive all the way up to Brian Head to do them! We had so much fun and it was so easy! I am not a photography person by any means... I like having pictures to look back on, but the whole taking pictures process is not my thing... But she was so fun and easy going that it made the whole process so enjoyable!

I'm so grateful that Heavenly Father is trusting me with these sweet girls. I never thought that I would be carrying 2 babies in my belly at once... but now that they are in there kicking and swimming around, I can't imagine it any other way. Looking ahead to my journey of having 3 kids under age 2 I know that it's going to be super challenging and I'll probably want to pull my hair out on a daily basis, but I do know that things happen for a reason, and that God doesn't give us more then we can handle. These sweet little girls are meant to come to earth together at this time and I'm beyond blessed that I get to be their mother.

Make sure you come back to see part 2 of these amazing pictures! I was dying over so many that I couldn't choose just a few so I had to split my post into 2!
